Since its inception, The Funders' Collaborative on Youth Organizing has re-granted over $5 million of support to the field of youth organizing.  In addition to a general grantmaking pool, below are FCYO's previous grantmaking initiatives that were developed in order to target, maximize and leverage resources for youth organizing.

 

ReGenerations: Leadership Expansion for Environmental Justice (ReGen: EJ)

(2006 - 2009) ReGen:EJ was a multi-year initiative that supported 11 environmental justice organizations across the country.  Its goal was to increase effectiveness in youth leadership development; provide opportunities for strategy and model sharing between organizations; and document effective models of multi-generational community organizing that contribute to the sustainability of effective leadership in the environmental justice movement. TOTAL GRANTS AWARDED: $1,050,000

 

New York City Opportunities Funds (NYCOF)

(2005 - 2007) NCYOF was open to New York City community organizing groups that were actively engaged in youth organizing, specifically in low-income communities.  The NYCOF provided small grants to address typically unmet technical assistance needs and/or collaboration projects defined by youth organizing groups. TOTAL GRANTS AWARDED: $50,000

 

Emerging Youth Organizing Grants

(2005 - 2008)  Emerging Youth Organizing grants was a three-year initiative designed to support capacity of new youth organizing efforts in organizations whose youth organizing work was less than three years oldTOTAL GRANTS AWARDED: $330,000

 

Roots Initaitive

(2003 - 2005) The Roots Initiative was a three-year capacity building initiative focused on organizational development, network development, and the creation of field building, standard practices and tools. Roots engaged a cadre of 10 youth organizing groups from across the country, each of which received multi-year general support grants.  TOTAL GRANTS AWARDED:$1,140,000
